PARISH MINISTRIES

ADULT EDUCATION & FAITH FORMATION OUTREACH:  Deacon Dave Smith

This ministry provided ongoing educational and faith formation opportunities through the provision of speakers, seminars, and conferences, both within the Parish and the local community. 

ALTAR SERVERS:  Carlos Galan

This ministry trains and coordinates the youth of our Parish who participate in the Eucharistic celebration by serving at the altar.

ALTAR SOCIETY:  Marie Jendian

This ministry is responsible for the care of the altar and sacristy, washing all sacred vessels used at Mass and replacing the votive candles.  The group decorates the Church at holidays and hosts an annual luncheon for the Handicapables of Ventura County.  Meetings are held monthly on the second Sunday (October-June) after their Corporate Mass at 11:00 a.m.

THURSDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY:  Donna Sorek

This Bible Study group provides a setting of fellowship and comfort to grow in the knowledge and love of Holy Scripture.  The group meets each Thursday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.  Child care available.

CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD:  Janice Hague

This ministry assists the younger children of the Parish in faith understanding.  During the Sunday 9:30 a.m. Mass, the children are dismissed to the Parish Center where adult members explain the Sunday Liturgy of the Word.

DETENTION MINISTRY:  Claudio Selame

Through the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, the Detention Ministry trains volunteers and facilitates the visitation of juvenile and adult prisoners.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS/LECTORS: 

Bob Wolf and Pat Stotko

This ministry assists in the celebration of the Mass by proclaiming the Word of God as Lector and administering t he Body and Blood of Christ during the liturgy of the Eucharist.  This ministry also coordinates the celebrations of Communion for the Sick in their own homes.

HELPING HANDS:  Sally Kutcher

This ministry provides a number of services to Parishioners in need.  Help to shut-ins, new mothers, telephone prayer trees, transportation, and bereavement are just a few of the areas this ministry addresses.  Meetings are on the first Friday of the month (September-June).

HOSPITALITY (COFFEE & DONUTS):  Nessa Hawkins

The volunteer Parish families who participate in this ministry provided coffee and donuts after the 8:00 and 9:30 a.m. Sunday Masses.  Fellowship and getting to know fellow Parishioners are the goals.

MUSIC:  Leanna Brand

This ministry coordinates all the music in the Parish in order to provide enhanced worship opportunities at all Sunday Masses and feast days.  Adult choir rehearsal is on Thursdays from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

SENIORS GROUP “OWLS”:  Marcia Gillard

This ministry promotes and coordinates activities for Seniors in the Parish Community and beyond.  The group meets the first Monday of the month at 11:00 a.m.

USHERS:  Richard Gaz This ministry coordinates the weekly service of individuals who usher at the Sunday liturgies and on feast days.

WINTER SHELTER:  Deacon Barry Harper

This ministry, in conjunction with 25 other churches and synagogues in the Conejo Valley, provides a winter shelter in our Parish Center for the homeless in the community each Saturday night from December through March.  They also prepare a home-cooked meal and sack lunch each Saturday year round for anyone in need.

YOUTH GROUP:  Kevin Hilgert

This ministry is made up of High School students who meet each Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m.  The group mixes faith, religion, fun, social justice, and Christian service into a working Youth Group environment.

PRAYER GROUP:  Clark Hunter & Richard Ryans

This ministry serves St. Julie’s Parish by providing support in prayer for all Parishioners and Priests. 

PRO-LIFE:  Ron and Dorothy Hage

The goal of this ministry is to keep Parishioners informed on the various “Life” issues.  The group provides information, education, and services to those seeking out their help.
